Tracks: Bloomington Speedway Races Into the Future

24 June 1998

BLOOMINGTON, IN - In order to provide accurate information to race fans around the world, Bloomington Speedway has teamed with The Ultimate Racing Network in establishing their own web page. Located at www.turn2.com/bloomingtonspeedway, Bloomington's promoter, Mike Miles promises the web page will keep fans up-to-date with results and news. "This is just part of our commitment to the future of racing in Indiana and to Bloomington Speedway," Miles said.

Russ Bensheimer, President and editor of The Ultimate Racing Network, turn2.com, is enthusiastic about the relationship with Bloomington. He explained, "We're proud of the association developed with Bloomington Speedway and the professional manor in which the site is progressing. The new track information category established with Bloomington helps set the standard for our continued development and growth. Everyone knows who Bloomington Speedway is. Working in conjunction with one of the premier short tracks in the nation, I am confident that this association is going to be a real plus for both of us."

Bloomington Speedway is celebrating their 75th Anniversary in 1998. The fastest quarter-mile dirt oval in the country, Bloomington hosts the Pennzoil Cup sprint car series, the WalMart Tire & Wheel Express Sprint Cars and Bloomington's open wheel modifieds.

Bensheimer says that they are striving to provide a common location for all Hoosier short tracks. "We want the track owners and local sanctioning groups to have a professional presence that is accessible to all on the World Wide Web. We are striving to be a central location for all Hoosier racing fans to find all of the racing news with a Hoosier connection. While Bloomington Speedway is celebrating 75 years, turn2.com recently celebrated its first anniversary (June 6) with traffic surpassing the 123,000 hits per month mark."

Turn2.com is also the official website for the Hoosier Auto Racing Fans (HARF). The site is professionally designed and maintained by business partner and Turn2 vice president D. Russell Davies of Compassworks Corp. of Columbus, Indiana.
