NASCAR Trucks: Norick and NHL Team Just Need a Little Luck

2 July 1998

WEST ALLIS, WI - When Lance Norick and the National Hockey League sponsored Dodge unload for the July 4th DieHard 200 at the famed Milwaukee Mile, they will be looking to put the final necessary component in place to get their first win - just a little luck.

"We have all the elements in place to get our first victory," stated Lance Norick, driver of the #90 L & R Motorsports NASCAR Craftsman race truck. "We have qualified well and had good runs going this year only to have something happen to end our day early. Either something totally unforeseen mechanically happens or I have been in the wrong place on the race track and got caught up in a wreck that put us out when we were moving toward the front.

"Mike (Cheek, crew chief) and the team have a never-say-die attitude," Norick continues. "When we get back to the shop, we analyze everything , learn what we can and then move on to the preparation for the next race. We don't dwell on what might of been but concentrate on what is ahead. To an extent, you make your own luck, but there is that little part that no one controls and we need some of that to come our way.

"There isn't a driver in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series that works any harder than Lance," said Cheek. "He is dedicated to getting this team to victory lane. His positive attitude keeps us all pushing forward. We are right there, we can feel it. It is just a matter of getting Lady Luck to come along with us."

"Milwaukee is a great track.," Norick concludes. "I always look forward to running here. The fans are great and I am looking forward to a good run in the NHL Dodge."

The DieHard 200 is the 10th race of the 27 event NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series 1998 schedule. Bud Pole qualifying is scheduled for Friday, July 3rd at 2:30 p.m.CDT.

The race will begin at 12:30 p.m. CDT on Saturday, July 4th with live television coverage by CBS. NASCAR Truck Network will bring live race action to radio listeners to over 400 affiliates nationwide.
