NASCAR Trucks: Miller Returns to Familiar Territory at Milwaukee Mile

2 July 1998

WEST ALLIS, WI - Butch Miller has raced many a lap around the famed Milwaukee Mile and knows what it takes to win. A three-time winner in American Speed Association (ASA) competition at the "Legendary Oval"., Miller is looking to add a victory in the July 4th DieHard 200 to his resume.

"This is no-doubt one of my favorite tracks," said Miller. "That's what drivers always say about places where they have won, but for me it's really true. When I was building my career on the tracks in the midwest, this was one of the places where everyone wanted the prestige of a win. A lot of drivers struggle with Milwaukee because it is flat and fast. You don't have any banking to help you, so set-up is critical to get good cornering speed and drive out of the corners down the long straights.

"I seem to have adapted to the place well," Miller explained. "We've had pretty good luck over the years in the ASA and Busch Grand National. I haven't had quite the luck I would have liked in the Trucks, but I feel this year with the DANA Dodge team that will change. We've had some good runs on speedways this season and the team keeps improving every week. My experience at Milwaukee should help us get our set-up pretty close off-the-truck then we can concentrate on just fine-tuning everything for qualifying. If we can start up front, I know we can run there all day."

The DieHard 200 is the 10th race of the 27 event NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series 1998 schedule. Bud Pole qualifying is scheduled for Friday, July 3rd at 2:30 p.m. CDT.

The race will begin at 12:30 p.m. CDT on Saturday, July 4th with live television coverage by CBS. NASCAR Truck Network will bring live race action to radio listeners to over 400 affiliates nationwide.
