NHRA: 1998 Revell Nationals Preview

8 July 1998

13th annual NHRA Revell Nationals Weekly Preview October 22-25, 1998 Texas Motorplex, Ennis, Texas

Looking Ahead:

The 13th annual NHRA Revell Nationals October 22-25, 1998 will be the 20th national event of the 22 event Winston Drag Racing Series. Over the last five years at least two Winston Championships have been clinched at this fall event. 1998 looks to be another strong year for championship aspirations in all three professional classes at the Revell Nationals.

Revell Nationals Moment:

In 1994 drag racing legend Don "The Snake" Prudhomme driving the Skoal Bandit Top Fuel Dragster defeated Cory McClenathan to secure the last national event victory as a driver of his illustrious career. Prudhomme was sitting on the outside of the sixteen car field Saturday afternoon due to three previous tire shakes in qualifying. He qualified for the event with his last attempt as the sun set Saturday afternoon. Current Prudhomme Top Fuel driver Larry Dixon Jr. was a member of his crew.

Quotable:

" The NHRA Winston points battle will probably be the tightest you'll see in 1998. I think it will go down right to the final race in Pomona, California (Winston Finals, November 12-15). When we get to the Texas Motorplex in October, I still believe there will be 3 or 4 teams in contention for the championship. Hopefully the Budweiser King Prolong top fuel team will be one of those teams. "

Budweiser King/Prolong Top Fuel Dragster Driver Kenny Bernstein
