NASCAR Trucks: Norick and NHL Team Set to Tackle Nazareth

10 July 1998

NAZARETH, PA - "Nazareth Speedway is a driver's race track," said Lance Norick, driver of the #90 NHL Dodge in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. "With every corner being different, it is almost like a road course. Because I began my racing career on road courses, I always look forward to this race."

The July 12th NAPA AutoCare 200 will mark Norick's third visit to the uniquely shaped Pennsylvania track. In his two previous trips to Nazareth, Norick qualified well but good finishes were spoiled by a late-race accident in '97 and a mechanical problem in '96.

"Anytime you go to a track that a driver really likes," explained Mike Cheek, crew chief, "You already have a leg up on the competition. Lance cut his teeth on road courses and really likes technical tracks like Nazareth. I have a good feeling about this race. This team has been so close to breaking through for a win, this could be our weekend."

Norick agrees with Cheek's assessment of the NHL team's opportunity for success at Nazareth.

"We are right there-ready to get our first win," Norick said. "This team has worked hard toward that goal. Nazareth is a perfect place for us to take the NHL Dodge to victory lane."

The Nazareth event is round 11 of the 27 race 1998 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series schedule. Bud Pole qualifying for the NAPA AutoCare 200 will be held Saturday, July 11th at 3:00 p.m. EDT. The race is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. EDT on Sunday, July 12th. Live television coverage will be provided by CBS. NASCAR Truck Network will broadcast the race live to over 400 affiliate stations nationwide.
