NASCAR-CTS: Miller and Dana Dodge Team Take Momentum to California

16 July 1998

FONTANA, CA - Following their fourth place finish at Nazareth Speedway, Butch Miller and the DANA Dodge team are ready to capitalize on that momentum as they prepare for THE NO FEAR CHALLENGE for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at California Speedway July 17-18.

We had a great race in Nazareth, said Miller. Getting our first top-five finish of the season was a tremendous confidence booster for the DANA Dodge team. We know we are a good team, we needed a little luck to go our way and it did last weekend. Now it is important to maintain the momentum at California.

California is a great race track, stated Miller. It is really a horsepower track and fun to drive. You can pretty much just put the gas pedal to the mat all the way around. There is plenty of room to pass so traffic isnt a problem during the race. It is important to qualify well because the leaders can get away from you pretty quickly if you have to work yourself to the front. We didnt see many yellow flags last year and I imagine it will be the same way this year so you dont want to start too far back and use up your truck trying to get to the front.

Our goal is to qualify well, concluded Miller. My teammate, Lance Norick, qualified third last year so I know we will have a good set-up under the truck when we unload. That is always an advantage with the level of competition in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. This team is ready to win. We want to get DANA in the winners circle. With our performance consistently getting better, this could be the weekend. I know Im ready!

THE NO FEAR CHALLENGE is the 12th race of the 27 race 1998 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series schedule. Bud Pole qualifying will be Friday, July 17 at 3:30 p.m. PDT. The race will start at 1:00 p.m. PDT with live television coverage on ESPN. NASCAR Truck Network will broadcast the race to over 400 radio station affiliates nationwide.
