NASCAR GDS: Goody's $15,000 Mid-Season Awards Distributed at Orange County

ROUGEMONT, N.C. July 18-Robert Huffman of Claremont, N.C. graciously accepted a check for $5,000 representing the first place share of the $15,000 Goody's Mid-season Consistency Awards Saturday night following the running of the ATK Engines 125, at Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, N.C.

Goody's Pharmaceuticals, manufacturer of Goody's Headache Powders and Tablets and title sponsor of the Goody's Dash Series, a part of the NASCAR Touring Division put up the $15,000 to reward the ten most consistent drivers in the Series based on their laps completed percentage in the first half of the season.

Huffman's incredible 1,126 laps completed of the 1,127 laps run gave him a 99.9% completion rate, the highest since the awards began.

Mark Brooks, Account Manager for Block Drug Company, the parent company of Goody's Pharmaceuticals and his wife Laura were on hand to make the presentation of awards to the top finishers in this competition during a special victory lane ceremony following the completion of the Orange County event.

"Goody's Pharmaceuticals and Block Drug are extremely proud to be associated with such an outstanding organization as the Goody's Dash Series," said Brooks in presenting the checks. "It is truly an honor to be able to reward these drivers and the teams they represent for their extraordinary work and dedication.

Also receiving checks during this presentation were Jon Redman of Fairfax Station, Va. who finished second with 1117 laps completed and a 99.0% rating and Donnie Apple of Denton, N.C. who finished out the first half of the season with a 97.4% lap completed rating. Redman received a check for $3,000 for second, and the third place check to Apple totaled $2,000.

Rounding out the top five in the Goody's Mid-season Consistency Awards were, Orange County race winner, Ricky Bryant of Linwood, N.C. who received $1,000 for his consistency in 1998 and last year's second place finisher in this category, Gary Moore finished fifth this year and took home a check for $900.

Other Consistency Award winners and their awards included, Doc Brewer, $800, last years Consistency winner, Jake Hobgood, $700, B.J. Mackey, $600 and Jimmy Gross and David Hutto received $500 each for their respective ninth and tenth positions.
