NASCAR: Square D and FILMAR Racing to Part Ways After 1998

23 July 1998

PALATINE, Ill., - After a solid four-year business relationship with FILMAR Racing, Square D Company has announced that it will not return as the primary sponsor for the Concord, N.C.-based NASCAR Winston Cup team for the 1999 season.

"We have certainly enjoyed our partnership with FILMAR Racing over the years," said Jack Carlson, vice president of marketing for Square D. "We grew from an associate sponsor on Filbert Martocci's car in the Busch Series in 1995, to a competitive Winston Cup team in 1998.

"We are very pleased with the benefits that NASCAR racing has had on our business. We expect to continue our Winston Cup sponsorship in the years ahead."

FILMAR Racing Team Manager Eddie D'Hondt said, "Our association with Square D has been nothing short of terrific. They never denied us anything we ever asked for, and helped us grow to where we are today. Should they elect to stay active in NASCAR as race sponsors, series sponsors or anything else, we wish them the best of luck.

"FILMAR Racing is currently seeking sponsorship for the 1999 Winston Cup season and beyond. We have proven that we can field a front-running car in the Winston Cup Series, and we feel that our performance should be very attractive to potential sponsors."
