1997 Review: The race was dominated by BellSouth Chevrolet driver Steven
Christian. In Bud Pole qualifying Raleigh, N.C.'s Derrick Gilchrist set a
new track record and led the first 10 laps. Christian took over on lap 11
and was never headed. Due to a caution on lap 192, that extended until lap
203, Christian had to survive a green-white-checkered shootout to notch the
victory. Hank Parker, Jr., Mike Harmon, Ron Young and Larry Raines rounded
out the top five. Thirteen cars finished on the lead lap and there were 23
cars running at the end of the race.

NOTES OF INTEREST
· Numerous capital improvements were performed at Caraway Speedway during
the off-season. The track was repaved, which should result in a new track
record being established during Bud Pole Qualifying, a new press box was
built and upgraded grandstand seating was put in place.
· Milford, Oh.'s Jeff Fultz has filed an entry for this event. Fultz picked
up his first career Slim Jim All Pro Series win when the Series visited
Caraway for the first time in 1996.
· Points leader Freddie Query is riding a four-race winning streak heading
into this event. Can he make it five in a row?

STAT OF THE WEEK: Freddie Query has led 1010 out of 1801 laps run for a
laps led percentage of 56%. This has served as a springboard to the
Mooresville, N.C. resident having notched six wins in 10 races.
