NASCAR-BGNN, BUSINESS: Penfold Motorsports Announces New Sponsor for The Glen

6 August 1998

Penfold Motorsports is excited to announce Bill Penfold will drive the #0 NCT ProActive Pontiac this Saturday in the NASCAR Busch North Series event at Watkins Glen International. The team announced today that they signed NCT as the primary sponsor on their car for the event.

NCT is the world leader in active noise control and wave management. Their products range from the ProActive line of industrial hearing protection and consumer Noisebuster headphone products to electronic devices to remove background noise from speech and a new line of Gekko home speakers.

Team Manager, Ray Penfold, said, "The whole team is excited. We have had a great team effort all season, and we are very happy to welcome NCT to our team. It's nice to see our hard work getting noticed, and having great companies like NCT wanting to be associated with us. After the performance the team gave last weekend at Loudon, I hope we can follow that up with another great race this weekend for NCT."

NCT will join associate sponsors Cintas and Hewitt's Auto Body on the teams Pontiac. The team was planning to bring their Monte Carlo to the road course at The Glen, but decided to bring the Pontiac after having engine problems in the Monte Carlo last weekend.

Last weekend at the New Hampshire International Speedway, Bill Penfold and team overcame great obstacles, including a blown engine, to finish in the top ten. Bill was even able to lead part of the race, and stay in the top three for over 75 laps. Bill's tenth place finish was his fifth top ten in nine races so far this season. The great finish moved the team back into the top ten in points, up to the ninth position. They also made up a lot of ground on the other point leaders.

"We won't have the car we wanted to bring, but I have had some pretty good runs there with this one," said Bill about bringing the Pontiac to the Glen. "I still think we have a top ten car, and with some breaks in our favor, we could still pull of a surprise. Having a sponsor like NCT on the car will be a big plus for the team at one of the biggest races on our schedule."

There are still great seats for the race available at the track. The race is also scheduled to be televised live on ESPN at noon on Saturday.
