NASCAR Trucks: Walters Rides Rim to Best Finish of Season

17 August 1998

Central City, Ky.-(August 17, 1998)- Scot Walters and the Red Man/Brewco Motorsports team recorded their best finish of the season, eighth, in the Federated Auto Parts 250 at Nashville Speedway USA, despite having to complete the final lap on a flat right front tire.

Walters began the race from the 15th starting position and spent much of the day dodging wrecks and spinning trucks. There were 12 cautions for a total of 63 laps and only 14 of the 34 starters finished on the lead lap. Walters and the No. 37 Red Man Chevrolet truck were never lower than 16th in the running order all day.

"We needed this run," said Walters. "It's been a tough year. I'm just so happy to get a good finish and put this Red Man truck up toward the front. The people at Red Man and Brewco Motorsports deserve to be up front every race, and I think this type of run just may be what we need to turn the year around. Hopeful we can turn in a similar finish at Topeka and Louisville in the next two weeks."

Walters and the Red Man /Brewco Motorsports team's previous best finish this year was a 10th at the Miami-Dade Homestead Motorsports Complex on April 4. The team's best career finish is a 7th, last year, at Louisville Motor Speedway. It was also Walters first start in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
