ELKHART LAKE, Wis., - Patrick Carpentier and Greg Moore have seen better days. What started out as a good day with strategic plans in place ended with early retirement at Road America during Round 14 of 19 of the CART FedEx Championship Series.

No sooner did Carpentier take the green flag from 16th spot on the grid that he found himself the victim of a chain-reaction mishap, abruptly ending his day on the first lap.

"Somebody in front of me spun and I tried to avoid getting involved, but then Paul [Tracy] moved me into the grass and I ended up in the sand trap," said Carpentier. "Were all aggressive and we all want to win, but its a shame when an over-aggressive driver ends up putting others out of the race. The Blue Crew worked so hard on setting up the car. We had a good chance on finishing up at the front."

Starting 8th on the grid, Moore took advantage of full-course yellows and early pit stops by others to work his way up to the front. With a two-stop strategy in motion, Moore came into the pits for his first stop and ended up parking for the day.

"We had a great strategy planned. When I came in, the Blue Crew did a good pit stop. When I left the pits, something in the drive line broke," said Moore. "Even though we had problems all weekend, I think our strategy would have paid off and we could have won this race."

Prior to the Champ Car Race, Forsythe Racings Alex Tagliani and Lee Bentham didnt fare any better in their battle for a KOOL/Toyota Atlantic Championship Series win. Starting 3rd and 4th respectively, the Forsythe duo ended 14th and 19th after close encounters with others. Completing Round 10 of 13 in the championship battle, Bentham retains the lead in the drivers standings with 121 points, while Memo Gidley [Lynx Racing] moves into second with 114, and Tagliani is close behind with 101.

Coming up in three weeks will be the Molson Indy Vancouver at the Concord Pacific Place, Sunday, September 6.
