Coca-Cola and Downtown Indy New for USAC Awards Banquet

20 August 1998

INDIANAPOLIS-- Coca-Cola has joined the United States Auto Club as the presenting sponsor for USAC's 43rd annual national awards banquet to be held Friday evening, January 8, 1999. As part of the agreement the name of the awards banquet will be the "Coca-Cola Night of Champions." USAC has also signed a multi-year agreement to move the event to the Westin Hotel in downtown Indianapolis.

The move to downtown Indianapolis allows USAC to obtain consistent dates for the event into the future, something that was no longer possible at the former venue. Other factors include the wide availability of indoor parking and the opportunity to hold the event near the many amenities of Indianapolis' downtown area.

The "Coca-Cola Night of Champions" will celebrate open-wheel auto racing by honoring the achievements of USAC's participants during the 1998 season, both on and off the track. As always, the highlight of the evening will be official recognition of the 1998 USAC champions.

Tickets for the "Coca-Cola Night of Champions" will be available to the general public. Details on ticket prices and a specific timetable for the evening's activities are still being determined and will be released when it becomes firm.
