NASCAR Trucks: Butch Miller Likes Underdog Status at Heartland Park Topeka

21 August 1998

TOPEKA, KS - Butch Miller, driver of the #18 DANA Dodge in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, likes being the underdog. Never considered to be a roadracer, Miller feels that is an advantage as the DANA Dodge team prepares for the Lund Look 275K at Heartland Park Topeka scheduled for Sunday, August 23.

"Throughout my career, I've never really been known as a roadracer," said the 1995 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Most Popular Driver. "But often times, being the underdog is a huge advance over the competition. We've had a top- ten finish at Topeka and Sears Point and finished 11th at Watkins Glen. Since I am not one of the guys charging in the front of the pack all race long, people tend to forget I^m there. It gives you a great opportunity to sneak up on them.

"It would be a neat deal for the DANA Dodge team to score their first victory this weekend when we aren't considered one of the favorites," Miller continued. "This racing thing is kind of funny. You have a talented well- prepared team and you still have to rely on 95% luck to get you to victory lane. When they all least expect it, Lady Luck is going to smile on us and we are going to take this DANA Dodge to the winner's circle. Could be that will be the case at Topeka."

The Lund Look 275K is the 18th race of the 27 event 1998 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series schedule. Competition will open on Friday, August 21 with an optional testing day.

Bud Pole qualifying for the event is scheduled for Saturday, August 20 at 12:15 p.m. (CT). The race will begin at 1:00 p.m. (CT) on Sunday, August 23 and will be televised live by TNN. NASCAR Truck Network will broadcast the race to over 400 radio station affiliates nationwide.
