NOTES AND QUOTES:
"This is the same race recommendation that was used at the first New Hampshire
International Speedway NASCAR Winston Cup event in July," said Tony Freund,"
Goodyears lead engineer for stock cars. The setup utilizes a combination of
left side tires used at Richmond International Raceway and right side tires
used at Phoenix International Raceway. The similar banking and straightaway
features of the three superspeedways led to the development of this Eagle
combination.
"We saw excellent tire performance at the Jiffy Lube 300 in July. Tire wear and consistency of lap times were both very good. Most importantly, we received high praise from the drivers who were extremely pleased with the recommendation. We are confident that this race tire recommendation will again provide an optimum level of wear and grip, with little drop in lap speeds as the race progresses," confirmed Freund.
DRIVER QUOTE:
Jeff Burton - #99 Exide Batteries Ford, Roush Racing, winner of the 1997 &
1998 Jiffy Lube 300
"Goodyear brought a great tire with a lot of grip to the Jiffy Lube 300. It
was a very good qualifying tire and an even better racing tire. It would be
hard to build a better tire than that."
