NASCAR-WCUP, BUSINESS: Heilig-Meyers Will Not Renew Contract with Donlavey Racing

RICHMOND, Va. Heilig-Meyers Company, which has been the primary sponsor of the Donlavey Racing team of the NASCAR Winston Cup Series for more than five years, will not renew its contract with the team for 1999.

"Heilig-Meyers has determined that it will not renew its contract with Donlavey Racing for 1999," said William C. DeRusha, chairman and chief executive officer of Heilig-Meyers Company. "We will continue to sponsor the team for the remainder of the 1998 season.

We are not looking at any other sponsorship opportunities in motor sports.

"We have enjoyed our relationship with Junie and it has been extremely productive and satisfying."

Heilig-Meyers Company, based in Richmond, Va., began sponsoring Donlavey Racing in 1993. Donlavey Racing is also based in Richmond and is owned by W.C. "Junie" Donlavey.

Dick Trickle, driver of the No. 90 Heilig-Meyers Ford Taurus is 27th in the 1998 Winston Cup Series point standings.
