Racin' Fest Opens Midget & Sprint Car Triple-Header

4 September 1998

BLOOMINGTON, IN - Bloomington Speedway's Racin' Fest '98 opens the first leg of the NAMARS sanctioned Indiana Triple Crown. Over the past three years, the combination of sprint cars and the NAMARS midgets on the Bloomington banks has become one of the most exciting events of this southern Indiana oval's racing season. This year, promoter Mike Miles has moved Racin' Fest to Friday night, September 18th.

The sprint cars will be racing for $4,000-to-win and the midgets for $2,000-to-win from the $25,000 purse. Bloomington is the first of three nights of the new Indiana Triple Crown. The racers will travel to Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville on Saturday, and conclude at Evan's Kokomo Speedway on Sunday. There is a special $10,000 bonus if a driver is able to win all three features, sponsored by Saldana Racing Products and Painter Motorsports Group. NAMARS has recently announced the addition of a new bonus that will pay $100 each night to the competitor who advances the most places during the midget feature, sponsored by Cherry Tool Supply in Toledo, Ohio.

Previous winners of Bloomington's Racin' Fest include Tony Elliott (both midgets and sprint cars), Brian Hayden, Frankie Kerr and Danny Smith (sprint cars), and Jack Hewitt and Greg Lueckert (midgets).

General admission is $18 and spectator gates will open at 5:30 on Friday, September 18. Fans 12 and under are admitted free with an adult. The pit gate opens at 4:30 and pit admission is $25. There is a $25 entry fees for sprint cars.
