NOTES AND QUOTES:
"This Eagle recommendation performed extremely well on the newly sealed
Richmond International Raceway in June," said Tony Freund, Goodyears lead
engineer for stock cars. The tires responded well to the new sealer, which
provided additional grip, a factor in Jeff Gordons record setting qualifying
run. The added grip also generated an exciting side-by-side race with few
cautions. "Tires were not an issue as teams ran two full fuel stops during
the race. Teams typically utilize a four-tire pit strategy, given the
characteristics of the track," added Freund.
DRIVER QUOTE:
Terry Labonte, #5 Kellogs Chevrolet, Hendrick Motorsports,
Winner of the Pontiac Excitement 400 at RIR in May 1998:
"Goodyear brought a great tire to the first race here this season. It worked
very well with our setup - the outcome speaks for itself."
ESTIMATED PIT STOPS FOR SUNDAY'S RACE:
