NASCAR Trucks: Scot Walters/ Red Man Racing Notes

16 September 1998

* Rebound at New Track: Scot Walters and the Red Man/Brewco Motorsports team are looking to rebound at Gateway International Raceway from the teams second DNF of the year. The Red Man team suffered only its first engine failure in the team's existences, (29 races) at Memphis.

"Last weeks engine failure was in no way a reflection on this team, and what we can do," said Walters. "Some times there is just a part failure and these things happen. The important thing is that the Red Man team regroup, and have a strong run at St Louis."

The only other failure the team has had this year was at Texas Motor Speedway in April. Walters and the Red Man team were eliminated early due to a crash with two other trucks while battling for the third position. Walters sustained a few cuts and bruises in the wreck, but was right back in the truck the next race.

* Testing: Scot Walters and the Red Man/Brewco Motorsports team are running truck 014 at Gateway International Raceway in the Ram Tough 200. This is the same truck the team brought to the Madison, Illinois track back on September 3rd for the GM Test.

"We had a good day at the test session," said Walters. "We were able to try some different things on the truck that we think should help us in the race. It also gave Kenneth (new crew chief) and myself some more time to get to know one another. I think the Red Man team will be OK this week."

* Associate Sponsor: Welcome Smokers Stores is the associate sponsor on the No. 37 Red Man Chevrolet for the Ram Tough 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Gateway International Raceway in Madison, Illinois. The chain operates 14 stores in the Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma areas.
