NASCAR-CTS: Tolsma to drive the #84 Porter-Cable Power Tools Ford at Martinsville

23 September 1998

LORAIN, OH - Liberty Racing team owner Jim Herrick announced today the appointment of Randy Tolsma as driver of the #84 Porter-Cable Power Tools Ford F-150 for this weeks NAPA 250 at Martinsville Speedway. Tolsma is currently eighth in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver point standings.

"Liberty Racing is fortunate to have a driver of Tolsmas status available for Martinsville," Herrick said. "Weve had a long and difficult season, but are working harder to make our race team better every day. With top-10 finishes in our last two races, we know we are headed in the right direction. Randy is the perfect driver to further move the Porter-Cable Ford towards that objective."

Herrick added that Tolsma is currently scheduled for only the one race at Martinsville Speedway. Plans for the driver of the #84 Porter-Cable Power Tools Ford in the seasons final four races will be announced soon.

Tolsma started the season driving for Xpress Motorsports in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. He was released from that position following last weeks Ram Tough 200 at Gateway International Raceway where he finished 16th after running much of the race in the top five. In 37 career NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series starts, Tolsma has one win (Bakersfield 1997), one pole position (Indianapolis 1998) and 15 top-10 finishes.

The Porter-Cable Power Tools Racing team heads to Martinsville on the heals of back-to-back top-10 finishes for the first time this season.
