NOTES AND QUOTES:
"Our Goodyear Eagle tire recommendation for this weekend is the same setup
we raced at Martinsville in the spring," said Tony Freund, Goodyears lead
engineer for stock cars. The left sides are used exclusively at
Martinsville, while the right sides are used at both Martinsville and
Watkins Glen.
"Martinsvilles flat, concrete corners create a consistent, easy wearing racing surface that negates tire wear or give-up factors which are generally considered in the race day strategy. As is the tradition at Martinsville, we anticipate another hard fought, short track battle where two-tire pit stops are the norm," added Freund.
DRIVER QUOTE:
Bobby Hamilton, #4 Kodak Film Chevrolet, McClure Racing
"In the spring race we won the pole on sticker tires, which is very
uncommon at Martinsville, usually teams qualify on scuffs. These Goodyear
Eagles would last half the race if the circumstances called for it. Last
year when I had to pit on the back stretch, my left side tires lasted 290
laps. I have no worries about wear with this Eagle setup nor any setup
for that matter - Goodyear has done a great job making tires that perform
very well at every track."
ESTIMATED PIT STOPS FOR SUNDAY'S RACE:
APPROXIMATELY EVERY 160-180 LAPS.
