"There are only three only common denominators between the two, and that is Doug owning it, myself driving and Mark Harrah there. Other that every thing has changed. Cars have changed, personnel has changed, car owners have changed, the only thing that is the same is the sponsor," said Musgrave
This will be a fun time for Ted to see some of the changes that have been made within the organization and to be able to help the Jasper Motorsports Team at the same time.
"Its kind of fun to be able to go back and do that (drive for a team that you have driven for in the past.) It is under a bad situation with Robert breaking his shoulder blade, but this is going to be fun because it is where I started out." Ted replied.
This will also be fun for the Jasper Contingent because of the excitement that surrounds Teds record at the Martinsville Speedway. He ran second there in the spring, second a couple of other times and holds the track record (qualifying 94.129 mph at a time 20.117 seconds set on Sept.23 1994.) With the amount of success Ted has had at Martinsville, it will be no cake walk for the veteran. "It is kind of an on and off race track. By that I mean sometimes a guy can run real good there and go back and not make the show. It has been that way to me. I hold the track record there, but there are times that I have finished 23 or so for whatever reason. Martinsville is kind of a touch and go situation. I think that we can do good again. The competition is just so close right now especially in qualifying."
This makes the qualifying run even more important, as a front stretch pit is essential for a good run on Sunday. "It all boils down to that ever important one lap."
Ted is impressed with the reputation of Jaspers Crew Chief Newt Moore. "I have seen him around the garage and seen what he accomplished with the 81 car. Kenny (Wallace) is a good friend of mine, so I have heard alot about him. I think that we can qualify first round and have a pretty good run. I think that we have our heads pointed in the right direction and I think Newt is a pretty good guy."
Robert Pressley is still week to week after suffering the broken right scapula in Richmond Virginia. His status will be evaluated and updated next Monday (Sept. 28.)
