NOTES AND QUOTES:
"We are introducing a new Eagle race recommendation at Houston, which features a new compound and is based on our Vancouver setup," said Steve Orlando, Goodyears CART operations manager. The new compound, more tractive than Vancouvers compound, demonstrated improved grip during extensive evaluations last week in Sebring, Florida.

"We expect to have a much higher grip level than at Vancouver, with the same level of consistency. Qualifying and pit stop strategy will be key factors in Sundays outcome, due to the difficulty of passing on Houstons circuit."

"Once again, our factory personnel have done an outstanding job in turning this recommendation around in a very short period of time, enabling us to introduce this new compound at Houston," added Orlando.

ESTIMATED PIT STOPS FOR THIS RACE:
Approximately every 30-35 laps (estimates based on fuel consumption).

DID YOU KNOW?
The inaugural Texaco Grand Prix of Houston marks the first time Goodyears Eagle CART tires will race in the state of Texas. This is CART's first-ever venture into the Lonestar State.

Track simulations by Goodyear engineers revealed that this is the slowest street circuit CART will visit this year.
