NHRA: Parks to address Motor Press Guild

5 October 1998

GLENDORA, Calif. -- Wally Parks, NHRA's 85-year-old founder and chairman of the board, will address the Motor Press Guild at the group's monthly luncheon, Oct. 6 at the Proud Bird Restaurant near Los Angeles International Airport.

Parks, who founded NHRA in 1951, is the visionary whose early goals created what today is the world's largest motorsports governing body.

Other prominent members of the automotive and motorsports communities who have addressed the guild in the past include Bob Lutz, John Rock, Fred Schwab, Dan Gurney, Carroll Shelby and Don Prudhomme.

MPG is the largest professional guild for the automotive and racing press in the country. Its members work in print, broadcast and electronic media, as well as automotive public affairs. MPG's membership is approximately 500 strong nationwide.
