NASCAR-CTS: Doug George to drive the #84 Porter-Cable Power Tools FORD at Sears Point

JACKSON, TN - Doug George will drive the No. 84 Porter-Cable Power Tools Ford F-150 for Liberty Racing in this weekends Kragen/Exide 150 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Sears Point Raceway in Sonoma, California. George will be shooting for his third straight top-10 finish in the Kragen/Exide 150, having posted a fifth-place finish in 1996 and an eighth last season.

"Doug George is the perfect driver for the No. 84 Porter-Cable Ford at Sears Point Raceway," said Liberty Racing team owner Jim Herrick. "Doug is a proven winner with a record of success on the Sears Point road course. Prior to his strong truck series runs at Sears Point, George won races at Sears Point in both the NASCAR Winston West Series and the NASCAR Southwest Tour Series. We look forward to him running the Porter-Cable truck up front at Sears Point."

In addition to two top-10 truck series finishes at the 1.95-mile road course, Georges Sears Point resume includes winning the 1995 Winston West Series race and the 1990 Southwest Tour Series race. In 1995, George ran the NASCAR Winston Cup Series race at Sears Point and finish 31st. He also holds the track records for both the Winston West and Southwest Tour Series.

George, a 37-year-old native of Atwater, California, has 48 career starts in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. In his truck series career, George has posted nine top-10 finishes with a top finish of fifth in the 1996 Sears Point race. He started the 1998 season driving on the truck series for Mittler Brothers Racing. George left the under funded team in May after competing in only four races. After leaving the drivers seat, George joined Liberty Racing as shop foreman and was subsequently named interim crew chief in July.

Prior to the joining the truck series, George was the NASCAR Winston West Series Champion in 1995, the 1994 Winston West Series Rookie of the Year and the NASCAR Southwest Tour Series Champion in 1990.
