Brazilian Stock Car Championship: Round 15 and 16

12 October 1998

Goiania held the 15th and 16th round of the Brazilian Stock Car
Championship on this sunday.

Brazilian driver Paulo Gomes was the best driver of the weekend,
winning both rounds followed by Xandi Negrão, Chico Serra, Ingo Hoffmann
and Flavio Trindade.

With this results, Ingo has now 238 points, against 190 from Paulo
Gomes and with 4 races to go (80 points available).

Hoffmann had a bad weekend, and hasnt fount his best form anytime.
He also had a lot of luck, when the 16th round was stopped after 2 laps,
just after he spun and was lying 14th. So, he had the chance to restart
on 4th place and finish on the same place.

Paulo Gomes was in a class of his own, opening a great advantage in both
races. "The car was fantastic and the setup was great for this circuit.
I had to concentrate a lot, as the track was getting worser each lap"
said Gomes.

Gomes is one of the 3 drivers (alongside Xandi Negrão and Chico Serra)
that are trying to beat Hoffmann and avoid him to clinch his 11th title
in Brazilian Stock Cars.
