1997 REVIEW: Mooresville, N.C.'s Freddie thoroughly dominated the first three quarters of the event. During the final 50 laps Ron Young, Wayne Anderson and Query battled furiously for the top spot. Young and Anderson made contact on lap 395, handing the lead, and the win, to Query. Jeff Fultz, Hal Goodson, Billy Bigley, Jr. and Jody Ridley rounded out the top five. Query earned $32,705 for his race domination.

NOTES OF INTEREST The record for fewest cautions in this event occurred in 1987 when Darrell Waltrip won the race. Due to this fact Waltrip was able to establish the race record time of 2 hours and 47 minutes. There were eight cautions for 47 laps.

In the 17 year history of the event there have been only three repeat winners. Gary Balough (1984, 1986), Butch Miller (1988 & 1989) and Jeff Purvis (1991, 1992 & 1995) are the only multi-time winners.

Chatsworth, Ga.'s Jody Ridley has started the most All American 400's (14), and has the most top 10 finishes (11).
