NASCAR FSWT: Freddie Query set to make Appearance on Southwest Tour

22 October 1998

AVONDALE, Ariz. -- Freddie Query is scheduled to make his second appearance this season in the NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Series Tour this weekend at Phoenix International Raceway.

After winning the renowned Greased Lightning All-American 400 at the .596-mile Nashville Speedway from the 31st starting spot last weekend, you would think Query would be looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend at home. However, this is not the case. Query boarded a plane to Phoenix a day and a half after he captured his second consecutive victory in the prestigious event.

The Mooresville, N.C., native will be piloting the No. 21 Greased Lightning/Red Line Oil Chevrolet owned by Steve Haire in this weekend's Checker Auto Parts 300.

Query, the NASCAR Slim Jim All Pro Series point leader, finds himself 160 points ahead of second place Hal Goodson heading into the season finale at Metro-Dade Homestead Fla. Motorsports Complex.

"We're having one of those years you dream about," said Query.

With nine victories, four poles, 13 top-five finishes and 14 top-10 finishes, it's easy to see why Query would be pleased with the way his season has unfolded. The perfect ending to Query's spectacular season in the Slim Jim All Pro Series would undoubtedly be to bring home the championship.

"Hopefully the success we've had in the All Pro Series this season will prove to be a stepping stone to the things we'd like to accomplish in the future," Query said.
