PSCR: TRV Buys a Riley & Scott for Schroeder and Volk

23 October 1998

TOLEDO, Ohio - TRV Motorsport has purchased a Riley & Scott chassis for Jeret Schroeder and Tom Volk to drive in selected United States Road Racing Championship (USRRC) and Professional Sports Car Racing (PSCR) events.

The team had hoped to debut the new car, which carries sponsorship from Supreme Exhaust Systems and Purity Farms, at this weekend's PSCR race at Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, Calif. The car is not quite ready, however, so instead the team will test it during the off-season and it will make its debut at this type of racing's biggest event of the year, the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona at Daytona International Speedway Jan. 30-31.

Schroeder, of Vineland, N.J., and Volk, of Blissfield, Mich., will be joined by two other drivers to be named later in that enduro. (Indy 500 veterans Lyn St. James of Indianapolis and Pete Halsmer of Bloomfield, Mich., shared the wheel with Schroeder and Volk in this year's Rolex 24.)

The TRV Motorsport team will use Chevrolet engines prepared by the well-respected Detroit company Kinetic Racing Engines.

"Our new car is a major investment and brings us to the next level," said Volk, the team owner. "We will go to Daytona better-equipped than we've ever been.

"Mike Madden, our crew chief, and the rest of the crew have been working around the clock for several weeks to get the new car ready to race, and quite frankly I'm proud of them," Volk added. "We had to do quite a few adjustments to the Riley & Scott so that it could accept our Chevy engine, but we're all confident that our hard work will be reflected on the racetrack."

The Kudzu chassis that the team used with much success this year, including a podium finish at a USRRC race at Homestead, Fla., is for sale. For more information, call Madden at (419) 535-5665 or visit the team's website at www.trvmotorsport.com. (Jeret Schroeder's website is at www.pitpass.org.)
