NASCAR-BGN: Mike McLaughlin - the Two-Million Dollar Man

1 November 1998

CHARLOTTE, NC - You have probably heard of the Six Million-Dollar Man from the famous 70's television show, now The Busch Grand National Series has The Two Million-Dollar Man, Mike McLaughlin. Following the St. Louis Busch Grand National race, McLaughlin eclipsed the $2,000,000 mark in career Busch Grand National earnings. In doing so, McLaughlin joins Randy Lajoie as the only two drivers to earn two million dollars in The Busch Grand National Series.

McLaughlin has now won $2,004,248 in 156 Busch Grand National starts, an average of $12,847.43 every time he takes the green flag.

"Looking back on it, that's a whole lot of money, to bad it's not all in a bank account somewhere!," McLaughlin said. "I have been fortunate enough to be with a great race team, Team 34, for a long time. Having those guys behind me has led to most of my success in the Busch Series."

McLaughlin will try to add to his winnings in Saturday's AC Delco 200 this Saturday at North Carolina Speedway.
