USAC F2000: Global Formula Ford Program Announced

4 November 1998

BRANDS HATCH, England-- The U.S. F2000 National Championship announced an incentive program for International Formula Ford drivers looking to further their careers in the United States.

The Formula Ford Incentive Program offers entry fee and series registration breaks to drivers who won their respective Formula Ford National Championships or finished on the podium at the Formula Ford World Finals. The program begins with this weekend's World Finals at Brands Hatch, offering a total of $51,500 (US) in incentives to each National Champion (20 free series registrations valued at $1,000 each) and podium finisher (free series registrations at $1,000 each and free entries for the 1999 season valued at $10,500 per driver).

The program expands to $149,850 in 1999, with free series registrations and half of the season's entry fees ($5,250) to each National Champion, free series registration and all entry fees for the top-three finishers at the FFWF and an additional 14 sets of spec series tires (one set per race) to the FFWF Champion for the 2000 season. The total package is worth $201,350 for two years.

"We already have a great program to further our Champion's career, but we feel a need for incentive to bring the top Formula Ford drivers over exists," said Mike Foschi, co-promoter of the U.S. F2000 National Championship. "Formula Ford is one of the best training grounds in the world, and we know that many drivers have looked at coming to America at this stage in their careers. The FFIP will provide some assistance in helping them realize that goal."

The FFIP is as follows for the 1999 U.S. F2000 season:
Free series registrations for all 1998 worldwide Formula Ford National Champions ($1,000 each)
Free series registrations and entry fees for the top-three 1998 World Finals finishers ($11,500 each)
Total for the 1999 season: $51,500

For the 2000 season:
Free series registrations and half of the entry fees for all 1999 worldwide Formula Ford National Champions ($6,250 each)
Free series registrations and half of the entry fees for the top-three 1999 World Finals finishers ($11,500 each)
One set of free spec series tires per race to the 1999 World Finals Champion ($9,100).
Total for the 2000 season: $149,850
Total for the two-year program: $201,350
