NASCAR-CTS: Renfrow to Drive the No. 84 Porter-Cable Power Tools Ford at Las Vegas

4 November 1998

LAS VEGAS, NV --Randy Renfrow has been announced as the driver of the No. 84 Porter-Cable Power Tools Ford F-150 for Liberty Racing in this weekends Sams Town 250 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Renfrow, a 40-year-old native of Wilson, NC, will be the fifth different driver of the No. 84 Ford this season. Following the release of Cintas Rookie of the Year candidate Wayne Anderson in September, the team has utilized the services of Bryan Reffner, Randy Tolsma and Doug George. The team will be looking to Renfrow to continue its late season improvement streak, which has seen the team post six consecutive top-15 finishes, including three top tens.

Renfrow has 20 career starts in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series over the past three seasons. He has made 11 starts this season with a top finish of ninth at Martinsville. Liberty Racing will be Renfrows fourth ride this year after making starts in the No. 78 MCI Dodge, No. 61 IWX Chevrolet and the No. 66 Carlin Burners Ford. In addition to his top-10 finish at Martinsville, Renfrow has made strong runs California Speedway and Pikes Peak International Raceway, both in the No. 78 Dodge. In the California race, Renfrow qualified fourth and was running in the top five when the transmission broke, while at Pikes Peak, Renfrow was poised to win the race before running out of fuel in the closing laps.

Prior to the joining the truck series, Renfrow competed in the NASCAR Winston Racing Series at numerous tracks around eastern North Carolina and southern Virginia, compiling over 180 feature wins.
