Bosch Celebrates Spark Plug Launch with Catchy Display at AAIW 1998

4 November 1998

AAIW 1998 is filled to overflowing with displays. All floor space in both the Sands Expo Center and the Las Vegas Convention Center completely sold out, and show organizers have had to build temporary structures to house nearly 200 extra booths outside of each meeting hall.

With such a number of booths and exhibitors, one has to wonder how any of them manage to make themselves seen amidst the competition. Some of them do manage, and manage quite well.

Among this year's eye-catching exhibits, you have to include the Spark Plug display that Bosch built to celebrate the introduction of it's new Platinum+4 Spark Plug.

The giant spark plug you see in the picture descends from the sky amid steam, flashing lights of different colors, and thunder. At the end of it's travel it stops and rotates suspended, just above eye-level.

There's no better place for it than Las Vegas, and the Bosch folks seem content to bring a bit of flash worthy of 'The Strip' into the convention hall. It may not equal the Volcano outside the Mirage, but it's certainly eye-catching. Ultimtely that's the most important feature for any exhibit that tries to stand out in this sea of products.

The organizations responsible for AAIW 1998 expect to see 80,000 people in attendance. That figure is up about 10% compared to last year. If this convention keeps growing, they'll have to send half of it to RENO!
