Oswaldo Negri Jr., Mauro Fartuszek and Mariano Gonzalez tested this weekend for Brian Stewart Racing in Big Springs
11 November 1998
Brazilian Oswaldo Negri Jr. was fastest of all with a 55s88 lap, while argentinian Gonzalez was second with a 55s94 lap. Argentinian Fartuszek, one of the best drivers of the new generation, like Gonzalez and Waldemar Coronas, had problems during all weekend. On the first day Mauro couldn't do more than 10 laps as his car had problems in the gearbox and on the second day he struggled to find the right setup during all day and could manage only a 57s6 lap with old tyres and 56s55 with new tyres. Negri also had big problems on the second day, as he did only 12 laps in his car, before Mariano took it over and broke the suspension when hit a kerb. So Negri had to go into Mauro's car and the mechanics had less than 1 hour to fix the car, to adjust the pedals and Negri had only 15 laps to setup the car and then 10 more laps with new tyres to set the best time of the weekend in Big Springs. This test was made to test the 3 drivers that will be part of the Argentina Motorsport Team in 1999. Alejandro Bianchetti, team manager, is confident on making a strong team for 1999 and was very satisfied with the test and the team of Brian Stewart. Marc Zimmermann -- The Autochannel
