NASCAR BGN: Todd Bodine Wants to Add Miami to His Penske Track Wins

13 November 1998

Homestead Motorsports Complex is the only Penske affiliated race track where Slim Jim #30 driver Todd Bodine has not recorded a NASCAR Busch Series victory. He won at Nazareth and Michigan in 1992, Rockingham in 1995 and California in 1997. "After seeing what first pays ($67,750) for the Miami race, I think he needs to add that one to the list," said Bodines wife, Lynn.

"This will be my fourth race at Homestead and Ive been in the hunt to win in the previous three," said Todd Bodine.

In the 1995 race Bodine had motor trouble with ten laps to go while in contention for the win.

The next year he qualified third and led 43 of the races 200 laps. A spin entering pit road cost him a chance to win and he finished eighth. "I was just trying too hard," said Bodine.

In last years Jiffy Lube 300 he finished seventh. "I actually ran better than the finish indicates," he said. "I got too loose at the end of the race and the leaders got away. But we learned something that we hope will help us this time."

"I have raced on all the different track configurations at Homestead and the one they have now is the best."

"The Penske tracks have been good to me and Id like to add Homestead to my other wins at his tracks. This is also my last chance to win for Slim Jim and to get a victory for this year. Weve got plenty of motivation, we just need a little luck to get it done."
