SPRINT: Rahmer to be Honored at Motorsports '99

FORT WASHINGTON, PA -- The nation's winningest sprint car racer, Fred Rahmer, will be honored as the Northeast's Leading Feature Winner overall and in the open cockpit division. The Salfordville, PA sprint car racer will receive his award, and a trip to Jamaica courtesy of World Travel, as part of activities at the 14th annual Motorsports Auto Racing Trade Show on Friday, January 15.

Rahmer and a number of other outstanding Northeastern auto racing talents will be part of a special ceremony on the opening night of the three day Mid-Winter Motorsports Extravaganza at the Fort Washington, PA Expo Center. Rahmer and the Al Hamilton owned sprint car team visited victory lane 33 times in 1998 included a win against the Pennzoil World Of Outlaws.

Western Pennsylvania racer Brian Swartzlander will take home the award as the top winner in Dirt Big Block Modified competition , Craig VonDohren will receive the honors as top dirt small block modified winner and Gary Stuhler will be honored as tops in dirt late model stock car victories.

Billy Whittaker will pick up an award as the top asphalt late model winner and NASCAR talents Mike Stefanik and Ted Christopher will share the top asphalt modified win award.

All of these drivers have been invited to participate in the award ceremonies at Motorsports '99. Area Auto Racing News, published by show organizer Len Sammons, will produce a special, full-color poster depicting all the top award winners. A special autograph session, featuring the award winners, will take place on Friday evening, January 15. Fans will be able to have the poster autographed by those drivers attending the show.

NASCAR Winston Cup drivers Chad Little and Jeremy Mayfield have already announced that they will appear at the show. They will be representing Haulmark Trailers/Tommy Gale Trailer Sales. Many other top national, regional and local racing drivers and personalities will also be part of the three day show that opens at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 15 and continues until 6 p.m., Sunday, January 17.

The 14th annual Motorsports Auto Racing Trade Show will include speedway displays, hard core auto racing exhibits, race car displays, chassis and engine builders, speed equipment suppliers and manufacturers, sportswear and collectible vendors plus much, much more.

Every form of motorsports will be represented in the show that will cover more than 275,000 square feet of the Fort Washington Expo Center, located just a short distance off Exit 26 of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Show attendees will have the opportunity to visit The Motorsports Garage and see hands on demonstrations by the leaders in the motorsports industry. In addition there will be a number of seminars of interest to those involved in the industry presented throughout the weekend.

One of the highlights of the weekend is the Skoal/Aplus Ms. Motorsports Pageant featuring competition between more than two dozen young ladies. A celebrity panel of judges will pick the winner.

Though the show is 85% sold out there are still some special opportunities for teams wishing to show their race vehicles and gain some excellent exposure for their sponsors. More than 50,000 people are expected to visit the show during the three days.
