1998 USAC Sprint Car Champion Completes IRL Test

Fort Worth, Texas -- Tony Elliott, the 1998 United States Auto Club Sprint Car Champion, completed his Pep Boys IRL rookies test today at Texas Motor Speedway behind the wheel of the Pennzoil Panther G Force.

Elliott took just 64 laps (96 miles) to complete the phases of the test under the watchful eyes of Johnny Rutherford, Scott Goodyear and Pep Boys IRL executive Brian Barnhart.

It took a mere 34 miles before Elliott broke the 200 mph barrier with a speed on lap 23 of 201.3 mph. Elliott's top speed of the day was 210.7 mph.
