15 December 1998
Brazilian racer Oswaldo Negri, Jr. is considering offers for next season from a variety of sources. "I want to make US Indy-Lights Championship, but with a really good team, and most importantly with enough money to test and to develop the car," said Negri, who is trying to avoid another eason like he had in 1997, when he was with Genoa, which was a good team, but didn't have enough budget. Negri, who was crowned ILP champion in Argentina, finished the season with 123 points, ahead of runner-up Waldemar Coronas of Argentina, who had 104 points. Negri is also considering participating n the Sudam Touring Cars Championship, one of the most developed Touring Championships in the world. "I had some talks, and my manager was at the last race in São Paulo, talking to some teams. If I can't get into the championship for the Indy-Lights season in 1999 I will go down to South America," he said. Negri is one of the best drivers in Brazil after the Senna generation, and many consider him to be the most technichally perfect since Senna. Reginaldo Leme, the most important comentator in Brazilian TV, says, "Negri is one of the most technical drivers I've seen in the last 10 years." Marc Zimmermann -- The Auto Channel
