NASCAR Trucks: Goodwrench Service Plus Driver Jay Sauter Stays Active

18 December 1998

Just what did Jay Sauter do after being presented the Chevy Like a Truck $50,000 bonus in San Francisco last week following the NASCAR Truck Series banquet? No, he didn't go to Disneyland, because time won't allow it. In fact he's had plenty to do getting ready for the 1999 race season.

Like any driver on the circuit Jay Sauter, driver of the No. 3 GM Goodwrench Service Plus Chevy truck, hasn't had much idle time on his hands since the truck season ended the first week of November. From testing, to doing interviews, getting fitted for next year's uniform, making public appearances, to spending hours in the photo studio - it's all a part of his job.

"I've had a busy couple of weeks," said Sauter. " I've tested, made an appearance in Dallas, Texas at the NACE (International Autobody Congress and Exposition), went to the truck banquet and on Wednesday we'll be in the photo studio most of the day getting ready for next year's press kits and autograph cards."

When all is said and done, Sauter will have time to go back to his home state of Wisconsin to spend the holiday season with family and friends, then it's back to North Carolina and back to racing.
