NASCAR GDS: Goody's Dash Series Announces 1999 Schedule

Daytona Beach Fla.-NASCAR officials today announced the 1999 schedule that will bring the Goody's Dash Series, a part of the NASCAR Touring Division, to race fans across the southeast for the twenty-fifth consecutive year.The Silver Anniversary schedule includes 17 events at 16 different venues including the traditional season kickoff on Friday, Feb. 12 at the 2 mile Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla. and for the first time ever, the Series will close out their season at the mile USA International Speedway in Lakeland, Fla. on Oct. 2.
In between, the Goody's Dash Series will travel to seven states from Virginia to Florida and from Kentucky to North Carolina, competing at many of the most historic and exciting short tracks in the southeast.
For the third year in a row the Series will return to the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Charlotte, N.C. for the Wednesday evening "Pole Night Under the Lights" show in combination with the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. The following week, the Series will tackle the high banks of the worlds fastest mile, the Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tenn., in another combination event, this time with the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and the Slim Jim All Pro Series.
Twice in 1999, the Goody's Dash Series Anniversary celebration will team up with national celebrations. The fuse is lit for Summerville Speedway, S.C. to host the racing action for the Charleston area's annual Independence Day Spectacular on July 3. And Labor Day plans include the Sept. 4 show at the all new and improved Langley Speedway in Hampton, Va.
Other traditional stops on the tour will all be back as well. The Series will visit Hickory Motor Speedway twice during the year and the annual stop at Caraway Speedway in Asheboro, N.C. always produces something exciting for the fans. The flat high speed corners of Greenville-Pickens Speedway, home of some of the greatest race fans in the world, will see Dash Series action in July, and the mid-summer cool down lap around the Grand Strand beaches will be followed, as always, by some of the hottest action all year at the Myrtle Beach Speedway in August.
A few stops that are quickly becoming traditional venues for the Goody's Dash Series, like Concord Motorsport Park, N.C., St. Augustine Speedway, Fla., Southern National Speedway, Kenly, N.C. and Lanier National Speedway, Gainesville, Ga. are all returning with events scheduled for the '99 season. And the two newest members of the Dash Series family, Louisville Speedway, Ky. and Orange County Speedway, N.C. have also re-signed for '99.
Dennis Huth, Vice President of Administration spoke of the schedule release, saying, "As always, the 1999 Goody's Dash Series schedule will provide the fans and the teams with a well rounded variety of traditional short track racing interspersed with the metal testing superspeedway events and promises to make this, the twenty-fifth year of Goody's Dash Series racing the best year ever."
