WOO: Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series Alters '99 Schedule

PLANO, TX - Due to the ever-increasing demand for Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series racing, President Ted Johnson has altered the series' 1999 schedule in recent weeks.For the second consecutive year, the season is scheduled to open at Kings Speedway. Following the February 19th event, the series' fire-breathing, mudslinging sprint car will race at Perris Auto Speedway the next day.
The Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series' inaugural event at MetraPark Raceway in Billings, MT, will serve as the Wild, Wild Northwest Tour opener on August 17th. Sweetwater Speedway, the host track for Fred Brownfield's four-event series opener the last two years, gets a September 21st date.
Due to Doug Fort's failing health, Robert Lawton will promote the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series' $42,100 event at Santa Maria Speedway September 11th.
Johnson is still considering several tracks for the series' October 31st date.
Twelve live races on TNN Motorsports dot the series' 1999 schedule. There will also be three repeats as the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series' media partner continues to beam the best in sprint car racing into the homes of its fans.
Following the February 26-27 event at Manzanita Speedway, TNN will televise the feature racing program from the Silver State Shootout, scheduled for March 5-6 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Southern New Mexico Speedway will host the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series March 9th. The event was originally scheduled for October 20, 1998. The series will also return to Devil's Bowl Speedway April 24th for the conclusion of the 25th Annual Winter Nationals.
Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA, originally scheduled to host its first Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series event last March 7th, has a double-feature event March 12-13. The series will also visit Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway and Heartland Park Topeka for the first time in 1999. Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway, a high-banked, 3/8-mile oval in Calvert City, KY, will host the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series April 16th. Heartland Park Topeka, for years a regular stop on the National Hot Rod Association tour, is in the process of adding a semi-banked, 3/8-mile oval, and will host a televised event June 18th.
TNN Motorsports will televise the Second Annual Winged Thunder event live from The Terre Haute Action Track May 21st. The Third Annual Channellock Spring Classic at Williams Grove Speedway will be televised live a week later. The finals of the Inaugural Rumble at Route 66 at Route 66 Raceway will be televised on TNN June 12th.
Three Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series events in seven days are scheduled for live television coverage on TNN Motorsports in July. The feature racing program from the Second Annual Duel in the Dakotas from Red River Valley Speedway will be televised July 10th. The Eldora Clash (July 16th) and the Kings Royal (July 17th) will also be televised live on The Nashville Network.
The Friday and Saturday programs from the 39th Annual Amoco Knoxville Nationals at Knoxville Raceway will be televised live on TNN for the fourth straight year August 13-14. TNN Motorsports will have live coverage of the feature racing program from the Second Annual Cornhusker Outlaws Showdown at I-80 Speedway September 25th. The Channellock Fall Classic from Las Vegas Motor Speedway will be televised live for the first time November 3rd.
TNN is also planning to air repeats of the Silver State Showdown (March 21st), the Amoco Knoxville Nationals championship race (August 22nd) and the season finale from Las Vegas (November 5th).
In all, the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series is scheduled to run 73 events over 105 dates at 46 tracks in 25 states next season. WoO
