F2000: Schroeder Autograph Session

28 December 1998

Schroeder to Sign Autographs at Pennzoil Motorsports '99 On Friday Afternoon, Jan. 15 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

VINELAND, N.J. - Just 15 days before he's expected to make his second start in America's greatest sports car endurance race, the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona at Daytona International Speedway in Florida, Jeret Schroeder will get a big send-off from fans attending the Pennzoil Motorsports '99 racing trade show at the Fort Washington Expo Center in Fort Washington, Pa. The Vineland, N.J.-based star is scheduled to sign autographs in "Autograph Alley" at the show from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 15.

The show's hours are from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 15; from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 16; and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 17. The expo center, which features 270,000 square feet of exhibit area, is located off exit 26 of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Schroeder is a big hit with Pennzoil Motorsports fans, who use the show as an opportunity to visit with some of the area's most prolific race car drivers. Since winning the U.S. Formula 2000 national championship in 1995, Schroeder was a star of the SCCA KOOL/Toyota Atlantic series in 1996 and 1997 before moving into sports car endurance racing in 1998. His ultimate goal is Indy cars, and he's already competed in two Indy Racing League events and tested a CART champ car.

The weekend prior to the show Schroeder will be at Daytona testing for the Rolex 24, and on Jan. 30-31 he will be in Daytona for the race as a member of the four-driver TRV Motorsport team of Toledo, Ohio. His co-drivers this year will be team owner Tom Volk, Paul Debban and Trans-Am veteran R.J. "Dick" Valentine.

In 1998 the team campaigned a Chevy Kudzu, but in 1999 it is fielding a Riley & Scott. The team's primary sponsors, Supreme Exhaust System Products and Purity Farms, have returned once again and the car is still an easily-recognizable yellow and black. The team finished seventh in the top class, Can Am, in this event last January, when Schroeder and Volk were paired with Indy 500 veterans Lyn St. James and Pete Halsmer.

The Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona is sanctioned by the United States Road Racing Championship (USRRC). Another group, Professional Sports Car Racing (PSCR), sanctions the 12 Hours of Sebring, another important race in which Schroeder is expected to compete in March in Sebring, Fla. Schroeder and the TRV team finished fourth in the top class (World Sports Cars) in 1998 at Sebring.

"I want to thank Lenny Sammons, Earl Krause and Joe Pratt for the opportunity to participate in the Pennzoil Motorsports show again this year," Schroeder said. "I always enjoy the show and the chance to visit with the fans and the other drivers who attend. The 1999 racing season will be here before you know it, but until then it's great that everyone in our area can get together at the Pennzoil Motorsports show."
