NASCAR GDS: Washington Apple Commision to Sponsor Ricky Bryant

24 January 1999

Ed Yancey, Senior Regional Manager, announced today that the Washington Apple Commission would sponsor Ricky Bryant in 1999 in the NASCAR Goody's Dash Series. Yancey stated, " The Washington Apple Commission is proud to be associated with Ricky Bryant and Bryant/Granelli Motorsports. Ricky has proven to be a very successful racer & spokesperson during his career. We feel he will do a great job representing the Washington Apple growers. Washington Apples and NASCAR racing are 2 great family oriented institutions."

The Washington Apple Commission, based in Wenatchee, Washington, represents the apple growers & distributors in the state of Washington. They have just released their new slogan Washington Apples "Just the Thing". Several other marketing programs are being planned.

Previously, the Washington Apple Commission has sponsored programs in ARCA & BGN.

The Goody's Dash Series, one of NASCAR's oldest touring Series, celebrates it's 25th Anniversary in 1999. The season will begin on Feb. 12th at Daytona International Speedway with the Discount Auto Parts 200. Ricky Bryant finished 4th in last year's race at Daytona.

In 1998 Bryant and his B/G Motorsports team recorded a 3rd place finish in the Dash Series. Ricky recorded - 1 Win - 3 Bud Pole Awards - 9 Top Five's - 13 Top Ten's. Bryant also finished 2nd in Laps Completed.

Bryant, the 1996 ARCA Pro - 4 Modified Champion, also previously finished in 8th place in the Dash Series in 1997.

Bryant stated "We are very happy to have the Washington Apple Commission supporting us. We can now focus totally on getting ready for Daytona, and the opportunity to win a championship for Washington State Apples in 1999. They have stepped up to the plate and enthusiastically supported me. I want to do all I can for the folks at the Washington Apple Commission this season. The ultimate goal is to help sell more Washington Apples and, therefore, increase consumption.

Bryant feels that 1999 should be his year to win the championship. With 2 years experience under our belts, and the support of Washington Apples this will be our best opportunity yet.

Bryant and the B/G Motorsports team hope to step up to the Busch Grand National Series in 2000. Taking a championship with them would be a great way to say goodbye to the Dash series. Ricky states,"The Dash Series has been good to me and my team these last 3 years. We have learned a lot here. It is a great first step for any team wishing to compete in a touring series. The competition and teams are close. I'm looking forward to the 1999 season!"
