Brazilian Racing News: Cascavel to Host Sudam F-3 Openers
12 March 1999
Cascavel will host the first two races of the 1999 Sudam F-3 season on March 13th and 14th. Sudam F-3 will have 18 races this year, all being held in double headers on the same weekend, this means there will be 9 weekends of racing in 1999. The dates arent yet confirmed, it is only confirmed that the first two will be in Cascavel (south Brazil), the next two will be in Argentina and the 5th and 6th round will be in Rio, on may 14th and 15th, together with the CART/FedEx Rio200. Leonardo Nienkotter and Jaime Mello Jr. are the favorites to clinch the title, and the brazilians are favorite to dominate this season, as argentinian driver Nestor Gabriel Furlan left F-3 to race in TC-2000. Tom Stefani will replace Furlan with GF Motorsport and they will run with Mitsubishi engines this season. Nienkotter and Duda Pamplona will race for Prop Car racing and Mello Jr. and rookie André Nicastro will race for Avallone Motorsport, a new team owned by José Avallone, former Jordan Grand Prix engineer. Cascavel is a fast track and we will be sending news throughout the weekend. Marc Zimmermann - The Auto Channel
