NASCAR WCUP: 'White Knuckle Weekend' Live on the Internet

The Auto Channel & WEYY Y92FM Team Up to Present Exclusive Winn Dixie 300 & Winston 500 LIVE from Talladega Superspeedway


AUTO CENTRAL-- When the recipe works the first time, there is not need to change the ingrediants. Teaming up for their second time in six months, The Auto Channel Internetwork will be working with Alabama radio station WEYY - Y92 FM to broadcast complete coverage of all the ARCA and NASCAR excitement at Talladega Superspeedway October 14-17. In fact, the live Internet coverage of the Winn Dixie 300 and Winston 500 events once again will represent the most extensive co-production relationship The Auto Channel has had with another broadcast medium.

Beginning on Thursday, October 14, The Auto Channel will be cybercasting Y92FMs daily wall-to-wall live audio broadcasts from the track.

Y92FM normally devotes its broadcast schedule to playing the best in country music, but during NASCAR and ARCA visits to Talladega, the station turns its full attention to stock car racing, becoming the direct link to all the action for a large and loyal audience. Backed with strong support from Talladega Superspeedway, WEYY will be utilizing The Auto Channels multimedia and interactive capabilities to merge all forms of coverage: audio, video, photographs, and text. The broadcasts will consist of interviews, news updates, qualifying results, feature stories, and lap-by-lap reporting. Through The Auto Channel, motor sports fans around the world will now also be able to experience every part of the weeks activities as if they were trackside.

The specific events at Talladega Superspeedway are:

3 p.m. Alabama Auto Show Qualifying Day for ARCAs Winn Dixie 300

FRIDAY, Oct. 15th
Qwest Qualifying Day for ARCA and NASCAR
9:15 a.m. ARCA Winn Dixie 300 2nd round qualifying

SATURDAY, Oct. 16th
WINN DIXIE 300 ARCA RACE followed by NASCAR final Practice
11:30 a.m. Flag to Flag Coverage of the Winn Dixie 300
12:00 p.m. LIVE Scanner feed between points leader Bill Baird and Crew Chief Keith Strunk
7 p.m. Talladega Superspeedway Wrap Up Program

TACH and Y92FMs exclusive Internet-only live TV ON THE NET Talladega Superspeedway Wrap Up Program will air Thursday through Sunday at 7 p.m. (Central Time) and feature the days events along with different celebrity guest commentators representing both ARCA and NASCAR organizations.

Thursdays kick-off show will present ARCAs general perspective from the track: whats expected to occur during the crucial qualifying periods; along with ARCA three time defending champion Tim Steele, Bill Baird, and Shawna Robinson. Robinson is vying for the prestigious honor of being the first woman winner in the tracks 30-year history. Friday nights show will feature ARCAs Kevin Lepage, driver of the #16 car and Winston One Million Dollar No Bull contender. Also joining the exciting Friday night show will be NASCARs Bobby Kennedy, crew chief of Michal Waltrips #7 Philips Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Saturday will feature an ARCA recap with ARCAs Don Radebagh, and Sundays show will reflect on the Winston 500s outcome.

In addition to the extensive track coverage, TACH will cover the Talladega Superspeedway Walk of Fame induction. This year, Lee Petty, Harry Gant, and Jeff Gordon will be given the prestigious honor.

Talladegas white knuckled weekend is aptly named, sponsored by Winston there will be five superior drivers vying for the much coveted No Bull 5 one million dollar bonus program. Kevin Lepage, Sterling Marlin, Mark Martin, Jeff Burton and Ward Burton are all competing for the seven-figure sum. Yet, while all five will be racing for the purse, Sterling Marlin and Mark Martin stand within stones throw of the $1 million mark in career earnings, without the bonus. The No Bull program coupled with Shawna Robinsons own Hit the Jackpot with Shawna sweepstakes promises to give the fans a weekend of endless action and emotion.

All Winn Dixie 300 & Winston 500 race coverage shows will also be archived and continuously available on The Auto Channel immediately following their original live presentations. The Auto Channel uses Microsofts Windows Media technology for all streaming video and audio. Internet users will need the Windows Media Player plugin, which can be downloaded free-of-charge through The Auto Channels website at http://www.theautochannel.com.
