Hyundai Motor America Announces Summer Lease Programs; Incentives on 1997 Models Also Announced

    FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., July 2 -- Hyundai Motor America has
announced the most comprehensive 36-month leasing program in its history.  The
program covers 1997 Elantras, Sonatas and Tiburons.  Also announced were third
quarter consumer incentives on 1997 models.  Both the incentives and leases
offered will run from July 1 through September 30, 1997 nationwide.
    The 1997 Elantra with automatic transmission, air conditioning and radio
will lease for $149 a month with a $500 consumer down payment.  For only $179
per month the 1997 Tiburon with 5-speed transmission, air conditioning and
radio can be leased with only a $750 down payment.  The eye-catching Tiburon
comes standard with power windows, 14" sporty wheels and a 1.8-liter DOHC
four-cylinder engine that produces 130 horsepower, as well as many other
features.
    The newly refined 1997 Sonata will lease for $199 a month with a $999 down
payment.  Along with the many luxury features standard to the Sonata, the
lease will include an automatic transmission, air conditioning and AM/FM
stereo with cassette.
    "These summer lease specials have thrust Hyundai into the leasing arena as
a strong competitor," said Maurice Bowen, director of marketing.  "This truly
is the most comprehensive leasing program Hyundai has ever offered its
customers."
    Listed below is a breakdown of the 1997 model incentives:
