Chrysler to Award Sebring Convertible for First Hole in One at NABJ Golf Classic

Chrysler Offers Sebring Convertible to Amateur Chicago Golfers During NABJ Convention

    AUBURN HILLS, Mich., July 9 -- Chrysler Corporation
will award a 1998 Chrysler Sebring Convertible to the first Chicago
area amateur golfer or any member of the National Association of Black
Journalists (NABJ) who makes a hole-in-one at a designated hole during the
third annual NABJ Golf
Classic at Harborside International Golf Center on Wednesday, July 16.
    The NABJ Golf Classic, sponsored by Chrysler and coordinated by D. E.
Simmons of Hyde Park Consultants, is a scholarship fundraiser for NABJ, which
will hold its "Chicago '97 - The Year of Rededication" convention July 16-20.
    "We wanted to sponsor this event because we know the importance of meeting
fundraising objectives," said Charles Hudson, Chrysler Corporation Manager-
Corporate and Diversity Communications.  "This is an organization that does
something good for worthy students."
    Hosted by the Chicago NABJ chapter, the golf classic will feature local
and national celebrity golfers, including LA Lakers and ESPN sports
commentator James Worthy, NABJ president and NBC Philadelphia TV anchor Art
Fennell, and former Chicago Bear Otis Wilson, and local TV personalities such
as WMAQ TV anchor Warner Saunders, and WBBM TV anchor Steve Baskerville.
    Nearly 5,000 journalists from across the U.S. will attend the convention.
The Chicago chapter has 1,000 members.
    Entry to the golf tournament is $150 per player, $600 for a team of four.
All proceeds will go to the NABJ Internship Fund.  The tax deductible fee
includes continental breakfast, cart, green fees, bucket of balls, a goody bag
of golf materials and lunch.
    Golfers can test drive the Chrysler Sebring Convertible during the
tournament.
