NASCAR Fans Get Chance to Meet Ford Drivers in IndianapolisINDIANAPOLIS, July 11 -- Racing fans will get a unique chance to meet some of Ford's top NASCAR Winston Cup drivers when Indiana and Illinois Ford dealers host "Ford Fan Appreciation Day" at Indianapolis' RCA Dome, and all it takes to participate is a trip to your local Ford dealer. The event, on Tuesday, July 29, will bring together various Ford Motorsport sponsors and drivers to offer the public a free evening of racing fun and interaction. Event hours are 4-8 p.m. and among the drivers scheduled to appear are Dale Jarrett, Rusty Wallace, Bill Elliott, Mark Martin, John Andretti, Ricky Rudd, Ted Musgrave and Gary Bradberry. Admission to the event is free, but tickets can only be picked up at any of the 68 participating Indiana and Illinois Ford dealers. "This is an exciting event and excellent opportunity for Ford Racing fans to see some of the fastest cars and best drivers in the world. We get such a tremendous reception around the country by Ford Racing fans at the track, and we wanted to come up with a way of saying 'thanks' for their support every Sunday," said Sam Scott, Ford Division Motorsport Marketing Manager. The NASCAR drivers will be signing autographs and participating in a Question & Answer session with the fans. Many Ford teams will also have showcars on display, along with team merchandise that will be available for sale. Another exciting attraction will be the NASCAR simulator, which gives spectators a chance to get the feeling of being behind the wheel of a NASCAR Ford Thunderbird. The public also will get a chance to see pit stop demonstrations up close and personal, the way it really happens during the race. And what would a Fan Appreciation Day be without free race stuff? The Indiana Ford dealers will be giving away tickets to the Friday, August 1 NASCAR Busch Series race at the Indianapolis Raceway Park. While they're picking up their free Fan Day ticket at the Ford dealership, fans should be sure to register for the sweepstakes, which ends July 21, 1997. The Ford Fan Appreciation Day program was designed so that racing fans could get a little closer to the drivers, cars and sponsors in a family- oriented environment. This is the second stop for the event in Indianapolis. Previous events also have taken place in Orlando, Miami, San Francisco, Dallas and Atlanta. Fans are welcome to call the RCA Dome for further information at 317-262-3410. SOURCE Ford Motor Company
