Free Admission Day for August 16 Grand Opening of New Automotive Hall of Fame

DEARBORN, Mich., July 21 -- Grand Opening ceremonies for the
new Automotive Hall of Fame in Dearborn is set for 11:15 a.m., Saturday,
August 16, and the doors will be opened to the public all day at a very
attractive admission fee: absolutely free!
"We are celebrating our Grand Opening with a gift to our public -- a free
first-time visit to Detroit's and the worldwide auto industry's newest visitor
attraction" says Automotive Hall of Fame Chairman Ronald L. Cutler, Vice
President, Marketing - Automotive, TRW. "This provides a perfect opportunity
for families to 'test drive' our interactive exhibits and take part in our
exciting Grand Opening Celebration."
Detroit's newest attraction is filled with things to see and do, and
visitors will be inspired by stories about the people whose work changes our
lives. Located next to Henry Ford Museum, the new $10-million Hall of Fame is
a unique "people place" of innovation and inspiration where interactive
experiences and one-on-one demonstrations are entertaining and enlightening.
The Hall of Fame is the only visitor attraction in the world that
represents the global motor vehicle industry. Yet visitors do not have to be
interested in cars and trucks to enjoy the experience, which is about people,
not things. Real people behind names like Benz, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Ford,
Honda, Mack and Toyoda and their accomplishments are revealed to visitors.
Free admission to the new Automotive Hall of Fame will follow the opening
ceremonies and continue until the doors close at 7 p.m. on August 16.
Subsequent admission will be at regular rates: $6 for adults; $5.50 for
seniors aged 62 and over, and $3 for youths.
The Automotive Hall of Fame's regular hours will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
seven days a week until November 1, when the schedule moves to 10 a.m.-
5 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. It is closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New
Year's days.
The new Automotive Hall of Fame is designed and built to be a visitor
attraction and educational resource. It celebrates accomplished people of the
worldwide motor vehicle industry for the purpose of inspiring others,
especially young people, to higher levels of achievement in their own work and
lives.
