Thrifty Car Rental Program Expected to Raise More Than $50,000 for Children's Charities

    TULSA, Okla., Sept. 3 -- In September, Thrifty Car Rental
expects to raise in excess of $50,000 for needy children's organizations in
the U.S. with its third-annual NEIGHBORS TOGETHER(TM) program.
    Throughout the month of September, when customers rent from one of more
than 200 participating U.S. locations, Thrifty will donate 50 cents or more to
the funding of a local children's charity.  In addition, the Thrifty corporate
headquarters will provide up to $20,000 nationally to add to local funds
raised.
    The effort is part of Thrifty Car Rental NEIGHBORS TOGETHER, a program
that encourages rental centers to partner with local childrens' non-profits
that need assistance in the community.  This year's program is projected to
raise between $50,000 to $60,000 for local children's charities similar to
last year's amount.  To date, more than $120,000 has been donated through the
program.
    All funds raised by NEIGHBORS TOGETHER stay in the local communities to go
directly for children's services.
    More than 50 children's organizations will benefit this year, ranging
broadly in size and scope.  For example, in Sacramento, California, proceeds
will benefit the University of California Davis Center Children Protection
Center, while in Albany, GA, funds will benefit a local children's shelter.
In Orlando, the Muscular Dystrophy Association will be the recipient, and in
Providence, RI, the partner is Junior Achievement of Rhode Island.
